Facts about Brownsville
Brownsville is a neighborhood in the eastern part of Brooklyn. It has a population of about 58,000 people in just over one square mile of space.
Brownsville was settled early on in New York’s history. It was a stop off location for the historic ferry road between The Towns of Jamaica and Brooklyn in pre-incorporated New York City.
In the 1800s, it was mostly made up of Jewish factory workers during the manufacturing boom. As the years went on and manufacturing plants moved, the neighborhood faced an economic downturn.

To get to Brownsville, you can take the 2, 3, 4, 5 and L trains. There is also a close-by LIRR station as well as many bus lines. Via car, the best way to get here is the Belt Parkway (cars only).
