Facts about Marine Park
Marine Park is a neighborhood in the southern part of Brooklyn. It is home to about 45,000 people in about two and a half square miles.
Historically, Marine Park was a plentiful hunting and fishing ground for Native Americans and the Dutch Settlers that followed in the 17th Century. This land held an abundance of oysters, clams and other game.
In the early 1900s, part of this area was preserved to build a park. Marine Park was developed by Robert Moses in the 1930s and is the largest public park in Brooklyn.
Today, Marine Park is populated by Irish, Italians, Greeks and Jewish people in a mostly residential neighborhood.
The closest subway is the Q line in neighboring Sheepshead Bay. There are also several bus lines that directly service this neighborhood. Naturally, the best way to get to this neighborhood is via the Belt Parkway.
