The DUMBO neighborhood of Brooklyn is in the northwest section of the borough. The name stands for “Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass”. It has a population of only 1000 people in less than a tenth of a square mile.
DUMBO was originally a ferry landing, made up of industrial warehouses; but was purchased by Real Estate Development company Two Trees Managements and re-birthed.

DUMBO is home to Gleason’s Gym, the oldest Boxing Gym in New York where Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson have trained. This neighborhood also hosts the Brooklyn Flea market every Sunday during the warmer weather months (April-October).
Between the tech startups and the pristine nature of DUMBO, it is a truly a site to see and even a better place to live.
You can access DUMBO via the F, A & C Subway Lines. Also, there are a few bus lines that go through this neighborhood.
For the more adventurous types, you can access DUMBO via walkways connecting to the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan Bridge. There is also a NYC Ferry that connects at Fulton Ferry in DUMBO.
For drivers, the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway is the best way to get here.
DUMBO borders the Brooklyn Bridge and the Brooklyn Heights section of this great borough.
